Genome Prairie Announces Interim President & CEO Dr. Gerald Brown

SASKATOON, March 25, 2020 – Genome Prairie announced today that Dr. Gerald Brown is assuming the position of interim President and CEO, effective immediately. Dr. Brown replaces Dr. Reno Pontarollo in this role. Genome Prairie’s Board of Directors is undertaking a search for a replacement.

Dr. Brown has served on Genome Prairie’s Board of Directors since 2005. He has more than 30 years of experience in agricultural biology, agronomy, intellectual property protection, and product development and commercialization.

In 1998, Dr. Brown joined the Saskatchewan Research Council as Director of its Business Development Branch and subsequently became Vice President of its Agriculture and Biotechnology Division. More recently, he was the Director of Marketing and Commercialization with the Pan-Provincial Vaccine Enterprise, a national Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research focused on the mid-stage development and commercialization of vaccines for infectious diseases.

The Board of Directors wishes to thank Dr. Pontarollo for his many years of service, his leadership and his contributions to the advancement of genomics and bioscience research in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
