Executive Search: Genome Prairie Chief Scientific Officer

Genome Prairie is a non-profit organization that supports stakeholders across Manitoba and Saskatchewan in capturing and maximizing the benefits of advanced research in genomics and related biosciences. This role is achieved by aligning the partners and resources needed to develop and manage targeted projects addressing regional priorities. Genome Prairie also enables participation among regional researchers in Genome Canada’s competitive granting process for large-scale projects.
Chief Scientific Officer
As the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), you are a visionary and innovative leader with a mission, through external and internal collaboration and partnerships, to leverage research opportunities that can be translated into innovation or commercialization opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a recognized scientific leader and influencer with a track record in developing, fostering, and maintaining science and research partnerships amongst a diverse group of stakeholders, including academia, federal and provincial governments and industry. You have a strong reputation of scientific achievement and are considered by your peers to be a leader in your field. You are, by all measures, an authoritative voice and credible advocate for science research, nationally and internationally. As a seasoned executive, you have led complex research enterprises by exercising sound judgment and exceptional problem-solving skills, by building partnerships, and by motivating and inspiring individuals and teams to excel. Candidates with experience in providing leadership for research programs with industrial partners are encouraged to apply. The preferred candidate will have an advanced degree (PhD, or MSc with MBA) with a focus in the health, agriculture, energy and mining, or environment sectors.
In addition to your CSO role, you are a key member of Genome Prairie’s executive team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. In this capacity, you ensure the scientific program’s strategic alignment with the company’s overall strategy and actively participate in all company-wide matters, including strategy, general operations, finances, quality, risk management, performance management, human resources etc. Lastly, you play a key role in championing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices, programming and measures at Genome Prairie.
