Genome Prairie Appoints Dr. Jerlene Halliday as Manager, Sector Innovation

Genome Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jerlene Halliday as Manager, Sector Innovation. Dr. Halliday will leverage her plant genomics and bioinformatics training to champion the development of project ideas into fundable projects, supporting Genome Prairie’s effort in generating a robust pipeline of applied and end-user-driven opportunities.

Dr. Halliday brings to Genome Prairie over six years of diverse professional experience including from the Crop Development Centre at the University of Saskatchewan and leading agriscience companies such as Corteva (Dupont / Pioneer), and Novozymes Bio-Ago.

“We are delighted to attract talent like that of Dr. Halliday to the Genome Prairie team,” said Lisette Mascarenhas, CSO of Genome Prairie. “Jerlene’s appreciation of the contribution and potential of genomics in agriculture will play a key role in helping Genome Prairie meet its long-term objective of supporting leading-edge genomic research in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.”

Dr. Halliday earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, and her doctorate degree in Plant Breeding and Genomics from the University of Guelph. She recently completed her post-doctoral training at the University of Saskatchewan’s Crop Development Centre, where her research was focused on identifying genes resistant to pathogens that cause anthracnose in cultivated lentils.
